The Basics: Parts & Genes

Each Unicorn is made up of 6 individual parts that correlate to the visual representation of a Unicorn. Parts are class-specific, meaning only Cloud Unicorns can have Cloud parts.
Each of the 6 parts are made up of 3 genes, meaning each Unicorn is comprised of 18 total genes that will determine its final stats.
Each part is associated with a specific Major gene, but also has Normal and Minor gene slots that will vary based on the genetics inherited from a Unicorn baby's parents.
Each gene also has 6 tiers, with each tier providing more stats than the tier below it.
In theory, a perfectly bred Unicorn would have the perfect selection of genes (based on the breeder's goals) and have each of the 18 genes at tier 6.
Genes are labeled by individual letters that correlate to increases of different stat categories.
Genes also have a chance to upgrade to the next tier any time a baby Unicorn is evolved, which means that over time your Unicorns will naturally get stronger as your lineage is bred further.
When you breed two Unicorns together, the framework for which parts can be passed down depends on whether or not the two Unicorns being bred match in class.
If both parent Unicorns are of the same class, the baby is guaranteed to be of that class:
Each part for the baby Unicorn (without boosters) will have a 20% chance to inherit a part from one of the parents and a 80% chance for a random class part.
If a given part is inherited from the parents, it will be a 50-50 chance at which parents' part is inherited by the baby.
If the Unicorn parents are of different classes, the baby is guaranteed to be one of the two classes of the parents:
Since individual parts are matched to specific classes, Unicorn babies with mixed parents will follow the parent of matching class.
The baby will follow the same framework, with a 20% chance to inherit a part from the parent of the matching class and a 80% chance for a random class part.
The only difference here is that if a part is inherited, it will match the parent of that class 100% of the time.
QUICK TIP: Boosters can be applied during the process of hatching a baby Unicorn that increase the chances of babies inheriting parts from their parent(s), and thus reducing the chances of random parts being introduced.
