Specific Breeding Strategies

Breeding Unicorns with the intention of creating babies with the highest possible total stats is a very common goal for players. Unicorns with high stats tend to perform better in various game loops, and can be desirable for purchase from other breeders.
The key strategy for breeding high stat Unicorns comes from a simple technique called gene matching, where a breeder identifies a set of genes that are optimal and attempt to match two parent Unicorns that share those key genes.
Let's reference the handy gene infographic and walk through an example:
As an example, if you wanted to breed a Crystal Unicorn that is very high in Defense, you would want to find two parents with as many B and P genes as possible- especially in the Major gene slots.
For maximizing the total stats of a specific Unicorn, you will want to use both hatching and evolution boosters of the highest tier that you can afford.
QUICK TIP: Tier 6 boosters provide disproportionately effective results than lower tiers!
Breeding Unicorns in effort to clone one of the parents is also a very common breeding strategy. This can be particularly useful when you have a Unicorn with great genetics, parts, or stats but don't have the ideal partner to breed it with.
The key strategy for cloning is to breed Unicorns of two different classes and use berries during the breed to ensure the baby will be the same class as the parent you want to clone.
The use of a high level hatching booster is essential for maximizing this strategy, as these boosters play a major role in reducing the chances of random parts being introduced.
Without a booster, you will have a 20% chance per part to inherit from the matching parent.
With a Tier 6 booster, you will have a 55% chance per part to inherit from the matching parent.
Breeding to create Unicorn babies with multiple Mythic parts is also a common strategy for producing useful offspring. Unicorns with Mythic parts have extra in-game utility that usually scales with each additional part!
You can view those details at this page: Mythic Unicorns
The key to this strategy is in matching two parent Unicorns of the same class that have multiple Mythic parts already.
The difficulty in breeding for multi-part Mythic Unicorns comes in the risk tolerance of matching parent Unicorns with the same Mythic parts versus matching parent Unicorns with mis-matched Mythic parts.
As an example, breeding two double Mythic Unicorns that both have Mythic Hooves and Mythic Horns will maximize the chances of creating a baby that is also a double Mythic, matching the parents. This is a lower risk option that has a high likelihood of creating a baby with at least one Mythic part, but has virtually no chance at creating a triple Mythic or higher.
For Mythic-part breeders that want to take more risk, it would be better to breed two double Mythic Unicorns that don't have any overlapping Mythic parts. This scenario would create a higher likelihood of creating a baby with three or more Mythic parts, but also increases the chances of getting a baby with no Mythic parts.
It is imperative to use the highest tier hatching booster you can afford when breeding for multi-mythic Unicorns!
